Chance Management was created in 1989 to serve a group of hospitality businesses in Colby, Kansas. Through sustained success, those businesses are still clients. Led by our senior management team, we are guided by our values and dedicated to our mission: Chance Management builds wealth for our clients through innovation, growth, profitability and guest loyalty.

Jayson Woofter

Chief Operating Officer

Jayson Woofter began his hospitality career when he and his family opened the Oasis Travel Center in 2003. The center contains unique retail items as well as three popular food concepts, including Starbucks, Qdoba Mexican Eats and City Wok Fresh Chinese. Gaining valuable experience in all aspects of the operation and taking the lead as they opened each new food outlet, Jayson served as General Manager of the travel center until 2013, when he joined Chance Management. During his tenure at Chance Management Jayson has been involved with all aspects of the Food/Hospitality, Travel Store, Truck Repair and Fuel Distribution Center operations. Over the years he has strived to build an incredible leadership team to ensure the continued success of both Chance Management and its clients, so they excel in the marketplace and continue to be staples within the community of Colby.

Penny Vogler

Director of Hotel Operations

Penny Vogler began her hospitality career in 2009 and became General Manager of the Holiday Inn Express that same year. After managing all aspects of that property and growing sales exponentially for 13 years, Penny joined Chance Management in 2022 and was promoted to Director of Hotel Operations and currently oversees both the Holiday Inn Express and the Comfort Inn in Colby. Penny understands the importance of travel and tourism to our hospitality businesses, as well as our local market, and currently serves as Chairperson on the board of directors for the Colby Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Jerome Handel

Director of Food & Beverage

Jerome joined Chance Management in 2022. He brings 20 + years of experience in the hospitality and retail industry with him, with brands such as Whole Foods, Starbucks, Travel Centers of America, and Pilot Travel Centers.
He has served in leadership roles of General Manager and Multi Unit Manager. Jerome’s career started as an apprentice meat cutter advancing thru to his first store management position and moving from retail to the restaurant and coffee industries. His philosophy has remained the same.....focus on quality food and beverage, friendly staff, and hospitality towards the guests.

Alex Ryan

Director of Fuel & Shop Service

Alex joined the Chance Management team as a Director of Operations in 2021. Under his direction are the TA Truck Service repair facility and the Oasis Energy wholesale and transportation business. Prior to his role as the director of operation for both businesses, he was the general manager of both businesses, assuming control of TA Truck Service in 2013 and overseeing the startup of Oasis Energy in 2017. Relying on a background that is heavily influenced by the local agricultural driven economy and its demands, Alex brings a unique skill set to an ever-changing landscape. His strengths in foresight, forecasting, and adaptability lend themselves to a marketplace that presents unique localized challenges.
